This is an GP assignment. sigh
Ruijie:
well, i will just include all the social media platforms with this term, FB. This includes twitter and all other popular online platforms.
Personally, i think blogging is a very attractive choice for people to write an online diary and talk to people. It allows discussion to go about the way you want and maybe about your life at the same time while still having your privacy. This privacy is something social accounts cant realy provide since they aim to create networks, hence a true identity is more often than not used. This is different when you blog because you can write things anonymously albeit truthfully. This is where one cant 'deposit' all their feelings, emotion and opinions online. Blogs also allow long detailed post online which FB do not provide, hence it is more useful to be a online diary..
However commercially i think that FB will stand out better due to its neat layout which allows more people to advertise online easily. FB also stands to have more user as people can have network easily while not losing contact. This will make it more attractive to have advertisements since i will appeal to a larger audience group. twitter also has a nice concept as it allows people to follow and get updates from a user. Sogurt also have their own twitter which can update promotions and advertise within seconds..

if blogs are still relevant in today’s society.
OK, this is Liaowei, blogging about blogs for GP......
In my opinion, blogging are still relevant in today's society, however, it has already been through its heydays. It is a very fast-pacing society now. Depend on more advanced communication and information technology, people tend to use a more convenient, more multi-functioning, and easier way of sharing informations, ideas or opinions. This is the reason why blog, which is an online diary, replaced the handwriting letters or diaries, and in fact why facebook and twitter took over blog's position. As compare to blogs, which require people to sit down and writing their thoughts for half an hour, status or tweets allows people to express their views quickly, simply and freely. furthermore, due to the convenience of facebook and twitter, a long content of feelings or thoughts which people used to posted on blogs has now been shared separately by tweets and status. Blogs has lost its role as a personal diary. According to the statstic on "the long tail of blogging is dying", "only 7.4m out of the 133 blogs it tracks had been updated in the past 120 days. As the New York Times put it, 'that translates to 95% of blogs being essentially abandoned."
However, blogs are still usefull in commercial sense. Companies, firms or organization prefer to use their offical blogs to introduce and promote their new goods or activities since the length of a post on blog is able to contain enough content about their products, as compare to facebook and twitter. Although there is lesser people blogging, there is still a large population reading blogs. Hence, blogging is still a fast-spreading and cheap way of advertising goods.
In conclusion, I believe that blogs can still survive in competing against facebook and twitter, however, its role on the Internet is getting less and less important than facebook and twitter.
That's all for the GP content, haha. now is something about me related to blogging= =.. actually I created a blog last year, but I stopped to post after my O levels=. =. Honestly, To me, blogging is juz too troublesome and everytime I wanna write something on the blog, my mind will blank out- -....... orz....... But, I admire those people who can consistently update their blogs. HAHA. :)
